Within the framework of launching a strategic partnership between the two parties, the Lebanese Development Network (LDN) signed on March 23, 2023 a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Caritas Lebanon.

The signing ceremony took place at Caritas premises. It was respectively signed by the presidents of both organizations; Amin Nehme and Father Michel Abboud.

Recognizing the importance of such collaboration, the agreement lays down the cooperation objectives to be pursued through the exchange of best practices and expertise. In addition, greater potential has been unlocked by combining organizational capacities and resources, pointing to new growth and opportunities on the horizon.

In his intervention, Abboud touched the pressing socio-economic situation, coupled with national political instability, which continues to have a negative impact on the society in Lebanon. “I am happy to join forces with LDN to grow strong in an endeavor to refine and enhance the ways we serve our community”, he said.

Abboud emphasized “the significance of such partnership due to the extensive experience LDN has in several fields.” He stressed as well “the necessity to develop practical and beneficial programs by providing appropriate solutions to the imminent and long term rigorous problems.”

In turn, Nehme praised “the unique position that Caritas has long maintained through its direct and efficient presence on the ground under extreme circumstances.”

He reiterated the continued commitment of LDN in providing all assistance needed. “We stand firm to support Caritas in the areas of our shared priorities to make a real and meaningful progress”, he concluded.

The MOU was regarded as the starting point to further expand mutual alliance in order to overcome the challenging conditions and achieve success through common efforts.

The Lebanese Development Network (LDN) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to assist individuals, groups and organizations develop their capacities by raising awareness and enhancing technical skills so they can improve their potentials, advance their progress and ensure their growth. LDN works in the education, culture, economy, social and health fields through the various strategic levels of Capacity Building, Social Marketing and Networking Practices, and provides Training, Consultancy and Program Development services. It endeavors to promote new paradigms for SMEs, Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship in collaboration with both the public and private sectors, and works as well on promoting the culture of democracy, human rights, dialogue and citizenship.

Caritas is the common sole pastoral organ of the Catholic Church officially adopted to serve the charity, to help the persons and groups, to perform the humanitarian, social and development activities particularly in the fields of teaching, education and health and to support and coordinate these activities, in order to realize the social solidarity pursuant to the social instructions of the church and to the world Spirit of Caritas International.
