Following the first week held in Berlin, the second week of the ‘Leaders for Justice’ Program continued in a similar setting where the 11 young Lebanese jurists resumed their leadership journey in Beirut.

During this part of the program, legal and soft skills were introduced. The participants embarked on a series of training sessions through which ‘ethical principles and virtues’ constituted the core aspect of the workshops with an emphasis on certain values such as integrity, responsibility, empathy and justice.

Speakers from various backgrounds took part through different topics as follows: “Introduction to the Rule of Law” with Philipp Bremer, Director of the Rule of Law Programme Middle East and North Africa; “Verbal Martial Art” with Raya Boustani, a senior communication trainer, coach and certified mediator; “Virtous Leadership” with Anthony Tayah, a consultant, teacher and trainer at Havard Virtuous Leadership Institute (HVLI); and “Reflections on Leadership” with Amin Nehme, the Founder and President of the Lebanese Development Network (LDN) and an Advisory Board member of the International Education Partners (IEP), Italy.

In parallel, the participants were engaged in a number of closed discussion sessions with a group of prominent figures such as the first President and the Head of the Lebanese Supreme Judicial Council Judge Souheil Abboud; the Head of the Administration and Justice Committee at the Lebanese Parliament Mr. Georges Adwan; and the President of the Youssef SADER Foundation for Legal Culture Mr. Rany Sader.

The participants concluded the second week with a collective mountain hike where they planted the Leaders for Justice Tree to commemorate the first edition of the program.

The “Leaders for Justice” program is an annual project targeting young jurists organized by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Rule of Law Programme Middle East and North Africa led by the Project Manager Paul Saadeh.
