The Programme has been selected to participate in the 2022 edition of the European Sustainable Energy Week (#EUSEW2022) which will take place in-person in Brussels and online on from 26 to 30 September. Learn more in this article about our presence at #EUSEW2022 and register.

Buildings are responsible for 36% of global final energy consumption and nearly 40% of total direct and indirect CO2 emissions worldwide. With roughly 75% of the building stock across the Mediterranean region considered as energy inefficient, improving the energy performance of buildings essential to decrease the use of polluting fossils fuels and boost the deployment of clean, renewable energy sources.

ENI CBC Med Programme, the largest EU-funded cross-border initiative funded by the European Union in the Mediterranean area, is contributing to making buildings more energy efficient through the funding of 8 specific projects which aim to upgrade the energy performance of schools, universities, and public facilities. More than 50 organizations from 11 Mediterranean countries are involved, including municipalities, local energy agencies and universities, and benefit from an EU investment of over €16 million.

We are excited to announce that the ENI CBC Med Programme, alongside its 8 projects dealing with energy efficiency, has been selected to participate in the European Sustainable Energy Week, the biggest annual event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe, to be held from 26th to 30th September 2022 in Brussels and online. Organized by the European Commission, this event comprises a series of activities aimed at building a secure energy future for Europe.

The Programme will participate in two different ways:
• On the 26th and 27th of September, we will be holding a stand at the Energy Fair. Representatives of the ENI CBC Med Programme and the 8 projects dealing with energy efficiency will be there to present the results achieved to improve energy performance of buildings across the Mediterranean, to network and meet new potential partners. The Energy Fair will be organized as a hybrid exhibition so stay tuned for the link to visit our stand in case you cannot make it physically to Brussels.

• On the 28th September from 9:30 to 11:00, we will organize a session as part of the high-level Policy Conference under the title ‘Energy Efficiency and renewable energies to drive building energy performance: local examples from the Mediterranean regions’. The event, to feature energy experts from both sides of the Mediterranean, will showcase good practices in performing cost-effective energy renovations of public buildings and include two live connections with Tunisia and Jordan to allow the audience to witness firsthand actual building energy improvement interventions implemented two projects. The event is organized in collaboration with the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction, the world’s biggest meta-platform of the construction sector. The session will be in hybrid format and will be accessible for the audience both onsite and online.
