Euro Mediterranean institutions have been working toward deepening their cooperation at a working meeting in Amman aimed at developing synergies through concrete projects.

The meeting brought together HRH Princess Rym Ali, President of the Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF), Dr. Mari Neuvonen, Chair of the ALF Board of Governors, Josep Ferre, Executive Director of the ALF and HE Nasser Kamel, Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) along with Birgit Loeser, Head of Division of the European External Action Service (EEAS) and HE Amb. Youssef Bataineh, Secretary General of the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, both in their capacities as UfM co-chairs.

The working meeting discussed furthering the avenues of cooperation among the institutions involved and identified priorities where their joint efforts are needed most. The meeting was possible with the generous hospitality of and under the auspices of HRH Princess Rym Ali, President of the ALF and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Jordan. The European Union also confirmed its continued support to the two Euro med institutions.

The exchanges addressed the thematic and technical propositions on which the institutions are aligned, with the aim of achieving a tangible impact and concrete developments through intercultural dialogue.

Among the areas of common interest which have been planned for in the coming phase are climate change, post-covid trauma recovery and perceptions related to migrants throughout the Euro-Mediterranean region.
