The MoU was respectively signed by the Dean of FGM Dr. Fouad Zmokhol as well as the chapter’s Co-Chairs, president of Dialeb Jackie Maalouf and president of the Lebanese Development Network (LDN) Amin Nehme.

The signing ceremony was attended by the organizations’ board members, university staff, academic scholars and students.

The Memorandum seeks to build a productive synergy between the two parties through conducting awareness campaigns, organizing events and activities, enhancing the exchange of knowledge and strengthening the professional development of the various stakeholders.

Dr. Zmokhol inaugurated the event by stressing the importance of this agreement. “We believe that with close cooperation and active engagement, we will be able to successfully achieve the objectives of this Memorandum of Understanding in the best interests of both parties, which will lead to effective change on the university level, the community and the country at large,” he said.

In her intervention, Maalouf spoke about “the role Catalyst 2030 is playing on the international, regional and local levels in advancing the application of the SDGs.” She highlighted the importance of the dimensions that they carry out. “The beauty of the goals is that everyone can contribute, and every contribution, small or big, can make a real and meaningful impact in our life,” she concluded.

In turn, Nehme addressed the students by emphasizing the significance of the SDGs on the future of jobs and careers. “As we witness a rapidly changing landscape brought about by technological advances, demographic shifts, and globalization, the SDGs set a certain framework for such global challenges which will play a crucial role in shaping the future of work,” he explained.

The event was followed by a general presentation about the SDGs and Catalyst 2030 movement presented by Co-Chair Maalouf.

The agreement encompasses pillars of mutual support and collaboration in terms of addressing global challenges, building a community of practice on the SDGs and fostering transformative actions.
