The Core Program is the historical and flagship program of the Foundation. Each year an international call is launched through which 18 fellows (9 artists and 9 scholars/thinkers) are selected.

Winners are awarded residencies from 6 to 11 weeks in Cassis, France in a stunning, contemplative environment where they have the space, time, and freedom to think, create, and connect. With each cohort of Fellows, the Foundation strives to foster connections between research and creation. Since 1971, Camargo has awarded residencies to over 800 Core Program Fellows as part of its mission to support groundbreaking research, experimentation, and interdisciplinary approaches in the Arts and Humanities.

This year, the winners were selected from more than 850 applications submitted from 103 countries. They hail from Bolivia, Egypt, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, New Zealand, Portugal, and the United States, and include scholars, writers, artists, two composers, a filmmaker, a choreographer, and more. They will spend six to eleven weeks at Camargo in Fall 2020 and Spring 2021.
