On March 9, 2023, the Lebanese Development Network (LDN) entered into a partnership with the Foundation Act Against Exclusion (FACE TUNISIA) in order to promote a series of development programs on the local, regional and Euro-Med levels.

The signing ceremony, which falls on the sidelines of the International Women’s Day, was held at Novotel Hotel, Les Berges Du Lac II, Tunis under the motto: “Sustainable Development on the Phoenician Shores: Capacity Building, Social Entrepreneurship and Leadership.”

The agreement was respectively signed by the president of LDN, Amin Nehme and the president of FACE, Zahra ben-Nasr in the presence of a group of prominent figures representing the public, private and non-profit sectors.

In her speech, Ben-Nasr provided a round-up about the Foundation’s major activities and projects. She underlined the work FACE is doing to increase awareness on the issues related to gender equality in the different spheres “in order to ensure a better social inclusion, advance working conditions and enhance favorable economic autonomy,” she said.

Guest speaker, Former Minister and Ambassador, Faiza Al-Kafi emphasized the importance of the role Tunisian women are playing in society and the gap occurring between the approval of the laws related to their rights and their application. Kafi highlighted as well “the seriousness of the various obstacles and challenges women involved in politics are facing throughout their career,” she added.

In turn, Nehme showcased the technical and strategic aspects of the partnership with FACE followed by a presentation on “The Status of Women in the Decision-Making in the MENA region.” He concluded with a discussion pertaining to the major traits and characteristics leaders should possess. 

The MOU reflects the excellent relationship between both organizations and formalizes the mutual interaction for future projects.
