Rita Chemaly She holds a D.E.A. in political and administrative sciences from the Institute of Political Sciences of Saint Joseph University of Beirut and was awarded the Samir Kassir Award for the freedom of the press, for the year 2007 by the EU. Chemaly is the author of an in-depth research on civil movements and revolutions, published at L'Harmattan, Paris, and co-author of a roadmap on Lebanese legislation related to women. Chemaly is a lecturer on political sociology, social media and advocacy. She is also responsible of projects with International agencies such as UNFPA, NGOs, collectives and research centers and national women machinery (NCLW) working in the field of human rights, development and gender in Lebanon. Additionally, she blogs on democracy, the rule of law, discrimination and gender issues in Lebanon and the Arab World.
