Rouba Mansour Fares
Mrs. Fares holds a teaching diploma in Social Service from Saint Joseph University and pursued her Postgraduate Studies (DESS) in Community health at the Lebanese University where she worked as a lecturer for several years. She has participated in a variety of social activities on different levels like children care, youth and drug addiction, and has an advanced experience in the service of people afflicted with AIDS. She took part as well in a series of local and regional professional training seminars with the NAP - National AIDS Control Program, Lebanon - on topics related to the voluntarily counseling and testing I & II, and with the UNAIDS on Management of NGOs, Monitoring and Evaluation System as well as Mobilization of Resources. She is active on many levels. She works with different kinds of institutions such as clubs, schools, universities, jails, youth movement and associations. She participated in a variety of projects and trainings with governmental institutions and international organizations (Ministry of Social Affairs, Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with CEMEA International, etc…). In 2010, she has been selected as the Regional Coordinator for the Arab Network Against Aids (RANAA) in the MENA region.
Mrs. Fares is the ‘Social Department and Training Program Coordinator’ at LDN. She is married to Pascal Fares and they have two kids, Lea and Fares.
Jean-Pierre Katrib
Mr. Katrib holds an M.A. in Political Sociology from the Lebanese University and an M.A. in Human Rights and Democratization from the University of Malta and the National University of Ireland, Galway. Since 2001 he has been volunteering at the Foundation for Human & Humanitarian Rights, an independent, non-governmental organization in Lebanon, where he is active in both human rights advocacy and education. In 2005, Mr. Katrib co-founded along with several political and independent activists, Alliance Loubnanouna (Our Lebanon), which is a center advocating scholarly research and informed debate on federalism for Lebanon. He lectured at universities, schools, and various social clubs on human rights and democratization issues in the Middle East, federalism and diversity, globalization, citizenship, good governance, and the rights of the child. In addition, he has written several reports and articles for bulletins, newspapers and web portals on topics pertinent to the political sociology of Lebanon, federalism, human rights and international humanitarian law. Mr. Katrib is currently working as an analyst at a Beirut-based political communication agency.
Ali Hijazi
Mr. Hijazi is a Financial Consultant and works currently as Chief Accountant at the Teachers Syndicate in Lebanon. In 2007, he received his BA in Auditing and Accounting from the Holy Spirit University where he is enrolled for his MBA degree. In his early career, he served as Assistant Financial Manager at Dar Al Moughatreb for Printing and Editing as well as at Trust Company for Consulting and Auditing. He has worked as Field Officer with Relief International in Southern Lebanon, responsible for implementing, running, supervising and monitoring the Micro Credit Projects (MFI). In 2003, Mr. Hijazi was nominated Candidate at Henry Ford Community College "HFC" Michigan-USA.
Sarah El Hassrouny
Miss Hassrouny holds a Masters degree in social service from Saint JosephUniversity - Family Dynamics and Social Intervention focus. She is currently enrolled at the LebaneseUniversity for a second Professional Executive Masters degree - Psychological Animation of War Victims Societies. She has followed a series of training with several prominent organizations. A socio-medical trainee with Caritas, family schooling mediator at Notre Dame College, Furn El Chebbak, as well as a community conciliator at 'Youth for Drug Enforcement'.
On the professional level, Miss Hassrouny has focused her work on Bint Jbeil area where she served at Caritas - Lebanon and Saint Joseph Des Soeurs Des Saints Coeurs simultaneously, and has been working at JohnPaulIICenter as social assistant on family, youth and children projects.
Rudy Sassine, MA Candidate
Graduated with a BA in Political Sciences from the Lebanese University, Rudy Sassine is currently an MBA student at Notre Dame University. As an intern and then a Research Assistant at the Lebanese Emigration Research Center (LERC), he helped to implement two major publications: The Impact of the summer 2006 War on Migration in Lebanon: Emigration, Remigration, Evacuation and Return and Insecurity, Migration and Return: The Case of Lebanon Following the Summer 2006 War. Mr. Sassine also worked as a Coordinator for a project entitled “Citizen Lebanon” at Baldati Organization, where he planned and facilitated grassroots discussion groups to promote political awareness. Selected by the European Science Foundation, he presented a paper on comparing two Lebanese generations and their perception about the war and ‘the other’ at an international conference in Vadstena, Sweden. Recently, he pursued a training program on leadership and democracy in the United States under the Middle East Partnership Initiative MEPI. Currently Mr. Sassine is a Senior Assistant Researcher at LERC where he is the research assistant to the Director on a major research project on citizenship law in Lebanon.
Melkar El Khoury - MA Candidate
Melkar El Khoury works in political media and is an expert in the fields of democracy and human rights education. He is the Executive Assistant at the Foundation for Human and Humanitarian Rights/Lebanon and the coordinator of political and legal studies at Loubnanouna, a working group on the theme of federalism. He has an extensive experience in monitoring and defending human rights and lecturing on related topics.
Mr. El Khoury is a US State Department Alumni. He has worked as a consultant for the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ). He is the author of several political and academic articles in addition to a publication on humanitarian law and civilians’ rights in internal conflicts.
Mr. El Khoury holds a B.A in Lebanese law from the LebaneseUniversity and an M.A. in Human Rights and Democratization from the University of Malta and the Wallenberg Institute/Lund University- Sweden.
Mr. El Khoury is currently working as Project Coordinator at LDN as well as Legal Research Affiliate at the Lebanese Emigration Research Center (LERC) on the project of the Acquisition and Loss of Nationality: The Case of Lebanon. He is responsible for reviewing legal literature from the Ottoman era to date, conducting expert interviews pertaining to the project and drafting a report on the subject.
