The Policy Forum on Development (PFD) hosted four virtual regional meetings (Europe & the Neighbourhood; Africa, Asia and the Pacific; Latin America and the Caribbean) to discuss a number of questions to feed into the ongoing programming exercise of the European Union.

As people everywhere recover from the current health crisis and attempt to ‘rebuild better,’ the PFD members shared their views with representatives of the European Commission and the European External Action Service how to best reinforce their commitment to the Agenda 2030 and Paris Agreement as well as the overarching EU priorities (Green Deal; Digitalisation; Sustainable Growth and Jobs; Migration and Governance for Peace and Security).

Given the fact that the annual global meeting of the PFD scheduled for March 2020 was cancelled due to the pandemic, these are the start of a series of online meetings that will lead into global virtual meetings in September and explore new ways of working for the PFD.

Indeed, the virtual meetings are part of a broader engagement process and debate that includes analysis from an online consultation among more than 360 PFD members and affiliates this spring, as well as targeted follow up and written inputs from PFD members, in order to provide relevant insight and recommendations to the EU institutions.
