Giovanni Zazzerini is the Secretary General of INSME – the International Network for Small and Medium Enterprises, a legally recognized not-for-profit Association established in 2004 in Rome by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and the OECD with the aim to strengthen international cooperation, exchange of know-how, best practice approaches and expertise in innovation and technology transfer among economic players and intermediaries worldwide.

He is adjunct professor at the Department of Management of LUISS Guido Carli, the University promoted by Confindustria, the Italian association representing manufacturing and service companies. He is also contract professor at the Department of Economics of the University of Perugia and Visiting Professor at the St. John’s University in New York. His specializations are Innovation Management, Entrepreneurship and Marketing.

From 2008 he works as an expert for the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs carrying out regularly technical assistance, training and capacity building activities for Development Cooperation projects in China and in Vietnam.

From 2012 he is also appointed by the European Commission to advise research projects on exploitation of research results, commercialization of innovation and business plan development.

Previously he has worked for almost 15 years as a consultant, developing projects in the field of, innovation, entrepreneurship and internationalization of SMEs. Beside public Institutions he has advised national and multinational companies (Vodafone, Sky, Ericsson, DHL, etc.).

He holds a Ph.D. in Marketing from University of Perugia (Italy), a Master’s Degree in Technology and Innovation Management from SPRU, University of Sussex (United Kingdom) and a Bachelor Degree in Economics from University of Perugia.

He speaks Italian, English and Spanish.
