AUBMC clerk admitting :( Present job) Starting date: June, 6, 2015 Essential Functions / Task Groups: Administrative Duties: Complete all appropriate and necessary documentation for admissions, transfers, and discharges. Update necessary information on the AS400. Ensure proper and complete documentation of patients’ identification in the medical records. Get patients charts from medical record upon admission and/or request. Inform physicians about new admissions. Coordinate with other departments at the medical center to ensure the smooth and proper functioning of the unit. Prepare routine forms needed for various activities such as store requisitions. Monitor utilization of supplies. Place requisitions to secure unit and nursing station requirements, receive the requested supplies and stock them in an organized manner. Keep nursing station tidy. Request unit’s daily store. File reports appropriately in patients’ medical records. Send specimens to laboratories with appropriate requests and labels, and check if they are recorded and signed by the receivers. Use bar-coded labels appropriately. Enter patients’ charges on the system. Fill patient charge slips accurately for all chargeable items. Prepare and maintain accurate records of patient charge cards. Replenish patient charge slips from billing department and replenish patient labels from the admitting office. Follow-up with nurses and physicians on patient charges to maintain availability of chargeable items in the unit stock and avoid loss of replenishment. Request guest beds for patients and charge their use. Perform filing and other duties as required. Verify the availability of charge slips in patients’ medical record upon every transfer. Accountable for the use of hospital resources. Assume responsibility for meeting JCI required mandatory education, e.g., fire and safety, infection control and others. Receptionist Duties: Answer intercom promptly and relay message to the right person. Answer and re-direct telephone inquiries promptly and ensure the appropriate person is contacted. Schedule future appointments for patients before discharge or procedure. Assist in receiving and greeting unit visitors in courtesy, including providing them with relevant information and directing them appropriately. Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, nurses, physicians and other members of the health care team.
